This is unquestionably the worst time of year for sports fans. Sure it was fun watching the National League kick the ever living shit out the American League in the All-Star Game, but there is an emptiness & colossal void that only the NFL can fix. We’re now under two months away from week 1, and I’m pissed off we can’t fast forward to September 9th.
But thanks to YouTube, this video can wet the appetite for Bears fans everywhere. It’s no secret just how anemic the wide receiver play has been for this franchise (only one 100 catch season in team history) since forever, so the arrival of Brandon Marshall has fans drooling at the possibilities.
Think about it, we’ve watched Jay Cutler basically play by himself (apologies to Matt Forte & Earl Bennett) for three seasons now. Do you remember the Lions game in Detroit last season when Cutler was playing like a created player in Madden? Hopefully, those days are long gone now that he has a legitimate target to throw the ball to. Also, Mike Tice’s offense won’t be as reckless and ignorant as the 7-step disaster we witnessed the past couple of years.
Watch this video and start dreaming of the what is likely to happen this fall & winter. And don’t feel bad if you tweak your neck doing a double take when you finally see a Bears receiver take a short pass, shed two tackles, stiff arm a helpless corner & outrun a defense to the house. You won’t be alone.
Bears fans have longed for a 6’4 230+ pound receiver that can abuse smaller defenders. D’Wayne Bates Marshall is not. And feel free to have a toast to the numbers Cutler can put up this year… He had the Bears in prime wild card position at 7-3 before busting his thumb last year. And that was in Maniac Martz’s offense with kick returners and Roy Williams’ remains at receiver. It’s going to be a fun year for Bears fans, so hopefully this video serves as the unofficial pregame to the ass kicking the Colts have coming to them in week 1.
