Jabari’s The Realness

Simeon's Jabari Parker is the next phenom that will take over the NBA. Could you imagine this kid teaming with Derrick Rose someday?

It’s no secret that Simeon’s Jabari Parker is the next high school superstar that will soon make a smooth transition to the NBA game. The soon to be senior came out with a list of 10 schools that he’ll grace with his presence for a year before jumping to the show to save whatever bumbling franchise is lucky to win the ’14 draft lottery. BYU, DePaul (Which would instantly give credibility to a program stuck in Mannheim Rd. traffic), Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina & Stanford are all in the running, and presumably all salivating about him taking over their campus & calling their school home for almost a year.

Parker is a legitimate talent in the Carmelo Anthony mold. At 6’8, he can raise up over defenders and cash jumpers in their grill, as well as put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Much like D Rose, his basketball IQ is off the charts. Basically, he’s the complete opposite of Tyrus Thomas in that regard. He isn’t a ’97 Tracy McGrady type of elite athlete, but he is strong and uses his length to get passed defenders. As he gets stronger and older, he’ll develop a post game that will be a bitch to stop because of his near 7’0 wingspan. And unlike McGrady, Parker is a driven worker that much like Rose, will maximize every ounce of his God given talent.

Most of all, he’s a great kid, in addition to being a great player. He’ll be a no bullshit superstar on the next level much like Rose is. It would be easy for a kid to have a LeBron sized ego in being the nation’s top high school player, but Parker has a good head on his shoulders. It will be nice to have another humble star in the association, and not one that is consumed with his brand & off the court marketing opportunities.

What’s unfortunate is the Bulls not having the Badcats pick unprotected in ’14 instead of ’16 in the Thomas trade. Could you imagine a Rose-Parker pairing? Chicago wouldn’t know what to do with itself. You know, besides shoot each other, of course. I kid. Too soon?

You know how teams value lottery picks, so it’s impossible for the Bulls to trade for unprotected picks unless Isiah Thomas is still running a franchise and nobody told me. Jabari Parker is the truth, and will one day turn around an NBA franchise & bring it life and much needed hope. It’s just too bad that franchise isn’t likely to be the one in his hometown.
