No matter what comes of the Starlin Castro allegations, his reputation will forever be tarnished. Cool move, bro.
Starlin Assaultro?
To be a 21-year old All-Star stud in the major leagues, playing in a city like Chicago and even better, being a Chicago Cub… I can see how things could get overwhelming. That being said however, in no way does that justify assaulting a female because you believe you have the power to get away with it. Starlin Castro was questioned by Chicago police for seven hours last Thursday night and into Friday the 13th morning over allegations of sexual assault. So far Castro is not under arrest and is denying the allegations. Of course he is.
On the other hand; the unidentified woman who is also in her 20s, was at a River North nightclub Sept. 29 when she met Castro. After 3 a.m. (nothing ever good happens), she went with a friend to his apartment where she claims the assault took place. The police became involved after she went to the hospital the following day. So who’s to believe? She could be a ‘fame whore’ and I use the term whore loosely, or he really could have overstepped his boundaries. Obviously alcohol was involved, and when that comes into the picture there are three sides to the story; his side, her side and the truth.
I usually don’t like to make assumptions on speculation, but looking at high profile professional athletes records like Kobe and Tiger, I’d be willing to say some type of assault went down. Castro is basically a kid… a 21-year old kid that didn’t think the repercussions would apply to him. Men who rape women or vice versa do it for the power; that, and that they’re f***ed in their head. On the flipside though… there are always going to be girls that want money, 15-minutes of fame or just attention that make up stories to get in the news. So I guess my p.o.v. is, I’m not sure who to believe at this point… I will say this though; Karma is only a bitch if you treat her that way. She can be a beautiful thing too.
