Well, that sucked, didn’t it? The Heat beat the physically tired and mentally worn down Bulls in game 4 101-93. As much as I would love to rip the Bulls for being down 3-1, I can’t do it. They are battling their asses off, but are simply losing to a more talented team. That “team” might consist of 3 collaborators who conned the league, but it is one bad fucking group. I have to give them that.
As much as it turns my stomach, the Heat are just too loaded. On a night when Dwyane Wade was awful, LeBron morphed into Cavs LeBron. There is no other way to put it; LeBron is a bad dude. He travels every time he’s about to take a jumper(like the sealer in OT). He whines and bitches about every non call like the entitled child he is, but there is no denying his insane ability. He locked Derrick Rose down in the 4th quarter and overtime, and in the process, brought out all of the Rose haters who never believed #1 deserved the MVP. Whatever. Those imbeciles can stroke LeBron all they want, I won’t go there.
The Bulls season long flaws are being exposed like most predicted that they would be. They have one guy who can break down a defense, and he showed fatigue down the stretch after playing the entire 2nd half and overtime. Trying to get a shot over LeBron is hard enough. When you are exhausted from carrying a team since November? It’s damn near impossible.
These are the miserable/rip your heart out moments for a young player and team. A lot of younger fans don’t remember how gut wrenching the Bulls losses to the Pistons were in from ’88-’90. ’88 was Michael Jordan’s first MVP season, and you didn’t hear how he didn’t deserve the MVP like you will hear about Rose. That was only a 2nd round defeat to the finals bound Pistons. They proceeded to lose to the Bad Boys in the eastern conference finals the following two years in 6 & 7 games respectively.
Most NBA teams need to go through these brutal playoff failures. The ’08 Celtics, ’80 Lakers, and possibly this year’s Heatles group are the exceptions to the rule. The Bulls are far from a finished product, but their mistakes and mental lapses are not something you can train for in the summer. The nail biting moments of overtime games on the road with your season on the line can only be concurred by living in that moment.
This is the low point for the Bulls. They will be unjustly ripped and critiqued by the know-it-all experts, but this isn’t a team like the Hawks who is stuck in NBA hell. Their leader and best player is 22 years old. Carlos Boozer is showing that he gives a shit(his flagrant foul on Bosh in game 4 made me smile like an evil Mr. McMahon used to. Luol Deng is 26 and has taken his game to another level this year despite playing what feels like 96 minutes a game.
Sure, there will be additions. The pipe dream that is Dwight Howard remains an option given the fact that the Bulls have 4 quality bigs to entice the Magic should they get desperate. They won’t return with Keith Bogans and Kyle Korver as major minute players at the 2. Ronnie Brewer has earned his striped with me, and I want him to be the main backup 2-guard next year. By the way, I think Korver is finally done simultaneously urinating down his leg and shitting his pants in fear of the moment.
As low as this moment is for this team, it’s as much a part of the NBA’s culture as abysmal officiating. Failing at this stage of a season only intensifies the burning desire to come back hungrier and stronger. Michael’s Bulls wouldn’t have had that killer instinct to blow teams out in deciding games back in the day if it hadn’t been for the beatings they took by Detroit. Once you get on top, you don’t want to relinquish your title. As much as this stings now, it will all be worth it when the Bulls are ready to slay the Heat. And the guess here is, it won’t take until the 4th try to get over the hump like it did MJ’s Bulls.
As much as game 4 was a kick to the balls, D Rose put on a highlight show before his coach ran him into the ground…
Now you know why D Wade is insanely jealous of Chi-Town’s #1.
