Carmelo Anthony was only going to agree to a trade with Amare Stoudemire & the Knicks. I don't sweat those two in a playoff series vs the Bulls.
You know the feeling that you get after a long dental appointment or a day with the in-laws? The sense of relief that takes you over knowing that you put your time in, and you can relax and exhale? It could be the feeling you get when you put time in with your girl knowing that you have a dude’s day coming up. I reached a similar sense of relief & excitement knowing that the Carmelo Anthony trade talk fiasco is mercifully over. Finally….As The Rock would say.
One of the NBA’s biggest divas got his wish, and the New York Knicks now possess 2 of the league’s top 15 players. The Knicks now have the “star” power they have been looking for ever since they began their salary cap purge in the fall of ’08. Guess what? I’m still not scared of the Knicks. That’s not me being a Bulls homer either. This is a bad match for the Knicks. Sure, they got their 2nd “star”, but at what cost?
They gave up Danilo Gallinari who is a top 5 shooter in the NBA. He is also a developing player who continues to improve on his ability to get to the hoop. Raymond Felton was flourishing under Mike D’Antoni’s system, but now Chauncey “Mr. Big Missed Shot” Billups is the Knicks lead guard. Chauncey is a half court player(like Melo) and won’t run the D’Antoni system like Felton did. There is a reason that Donnie Walsh & D’Antoni didn’t want this trade. This was all James Dolan and that other basketball imbecile Isiah Thomas. I mean, why wouldn’t you want to gut your team for a guy that was a lock to sign with you in July?! I hope you enjoy 1st round outs, Knicks fans. The Knicks had all of the leverage, and then the mush & the ass-clown owner ruined it.
Now that this team depleted their depth(Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, a 1st round pick, & 2 seconds go to Denver), they are left with two stars, no size, an aging point guard, and no cap space. Take a bow, Isiah…..
Before you even utter the words Corey Brewer, stop. He is a 2-guard that can’t shoot, and will be useless as a 3 with Melo there.
And don’t even start with the “Are you kidding me? This is a great deal, forget about it. Now we just need CP3 or D-Will and it’s ova.” Shut the fuck up you loud mouth Bensonhurst dago.
What these fools(Ian O’Connor of ESPN New York) are failing to realize is that once Melo signs his 3 year $65 million dollar extension, they won’t have the cap space for Paul or Williams. Say the cap remains at 58 million(which it won’t under the new CBA), the Knicks would have $11-$11.5 million in cap space according to Chad Ford of ESPN. Do you really think Chris Paul(who’s knee is deteriorating quicker than Christina Aguilera’s career) will take less money than Amare & Melo? Do you think Deron Williams will take anything less than the max(it will be less than it is now under the new CBA, but more than $11.5 mil) to be the 3rd wheel? The unique(and extremely lame) aspect of the Heat’s trio is that they signed basically the same contract. As much as guys want to play together, it still comes down to money.
With the owners wanting rollbacks on contracts and the salary cap, the Knicks won’t be in position to snag Paul or Williams. And now that they have gutted their team to make a trade they didn’t have to make, they don’t have the assets to trade for either guy before the summer of 2012. When you throw in the fact that Donnie Walsh is almost a guarantee to leave in April, the Knicks won’t have the guy who cleaned up Isiah’s mess. It’s cool though, Isiah will hand pick his GM. Enjoy that.

Spike Lee might like his new look Knicks, but I know MJ doesn't. MJ would have loved to torch this Knicks squad.
With Isiah pulling the strings, he will look to trade for Ricky Rubio or some other point guard. Newsflash: Rubio still can’t shoot. That isn’t exactly a quality that D’Antoni wants in his lead guard. What D’Antoni also doesn’t want, is to play defense. He cares about defense like Charlie Sheen cares about his image. They don’t stop anyone now, and the next time Melo helps a teammate on that end of the floor will be his first. So while ESPN, the portion of the moronic Knicks fan base who loves this deal, & the suck holes in the New York media will rant about a new NBA power, I’ll pass. They will continue to not have a center worth a fuck. And if you even throw out the names of DeAndre Jordan or Kendrick Perkins, I’ll throw up. No, they aren’t getting either of those two.
I am thrilled how this Melodrama went down. The Knicks gave up their assets, and crippled their cap for a ball stopping star, and an explosive power forward with a bad knee. Awesome. So while some might view the Knicks as a threat to the Bulls, I won’t. Bring it on. I’ll take #1 & his Bulls teammates all day long.
Has it sunk in yet that Eddy Curry, Michael Beasley, Anthony Randolph, & Darko Milicic are on the same NBA team? Yes, I’m not bullshitting you. Damn you, David Kahn. Look at that rag tag squad he has put together. And you’re telling me I couldn’t be an NBA GM? Just remember that in the ’09 draft, Kahn took Rubio at 5, Johnny Flynn at 6(who sucks balls by the way), passed on Stephen Curry & Brandon Jennings, took Ty Lawson at 18(who is better than both Rubio & Flynn), and dealt Lawson to Denver. And you guys rip on John Paxson.
Back to Charlie Sheen for a minute. Ricky Vaughn is all in favor of doing a 4th installment of Major League. At first I was cool with the idea. Then I thought, what would be the premise? They were old and bad in ’89. If you are telling me that they will be trying to win some big 16” softball tournament, & Vaughn does coke and bangs hookers, I’m in. And why the writers haven’t written a part for Roger Dorn(played by Corbin Bernson) is a travesty. Nevermind, scrap this idea.
I usually loves Joe Cowley’s work, but his take on Jim Hendry & the Cubs dumbfounded me. He thinks Hendry should be the one to fix the Cubs mess. I see his point when you consider how cashed strapped the Ricketts’ are, but Hendry created this train wreck. He can talk all he wants about the Tribune company wanting to shell out the idiotic contracts for Alfonso Soriano, Carlos Zambrano, & Aramis Ramirez. I don’t buy that for a second. Yankees GM Brian Cashman came out and said he wasn’t on board with the team’s 3 year $35 million dollar offer to Rafeal Soriano before the ink was dry on Soriano’s deal. Hendry could have let it be known if he wasn’t on board with the drunken idiot for the spending the Tribune allegedly forced him to do. I’m sure it was the Tribune’s fault that fatso handed Milton Bradley $30 million, paid Aaron Miles, Bobby Howry, and Scott Eyre. And I’m sure it was the suits in Trib tower who made Captain Cheeseburger to give Kosuke Fukudome $48 million dollars. Whatever.
The hype and buildup for WrestleMania XXVII is hitting an all-time level. First HBK Shawn Michaels was announced as the newest member of the Hall of Fame. Then Stone Cold Steve Austin was announced as the host for the new Tough Enough show. Then The Rock made his long awaited return. Then Monday night, two of the biggest stars in the game returned to Raw, and set up a dream match at ‘Mania. Can HHH break The Undertaker’s 18-0 WrestleMania winning streak? Hmmm…..
Monday’s Raw also saw John Cena shoot back at The Rock. Rock called out Cena last week in his big return, but Cena went old school Monday. Thank God Cena still has a little Dr. Of Thuganomics in him. This was Cena’s best promo in years. Someday, Cena & The Rock need to wrestle. I won’t give up hope…..
For all of my video game heads out there, Fight Night Champion will be released on March 1st, and it looks amazing. I call Tyson…..
I’d bet drinks for a month that Floyd “Money” Mayweather’s character in the game would automatically duck Manny Pacquiao. I forgot, Floyd doesn’t do video games. My bad.
I have become a fan of Murs. Here is his jam L.A…..
Do you remember when Paulie told Apollo Creed “I don’t sweat you.” Don’t sweat the Knicks, I know I’m not.
